We tirelessly search the world for what can make us happy, keep us safe and bring us love. We commit the self we see to making it our home. Yet there is nothing “here” to satisfy our real longing. We are not at home where separateness and differences seem to define us. But even in our seeming isolation we are not alone. God’s Hand extends to us from our brother, though it often seems intent on pushing us away. Take his hand with your desire to know that God walks with you and the purpose of the world has changed. What we have feared has become an invitation to love. God’s Gift is recognized at last; our searching now is done.
