It is our practice of applying the awareness we are learning in the choices we make that changes our “understanding” into our belief. I was at the shopping center when a disheveled person approached my car and asked for money. I could feel my ego judgment begin to think of excuses to avoid her. I quickly knew however, that was not what I was there to see. This was the holy Child of God masquerading in her story, as I was in mine. This was an opportunity to use the awareness that I want to accept as my belief. She immediately seemed to change as I saw her for who she is. Her frown became a smile that I knew had less to do with the money I had given her than the real gift that was given both of us. And I better understood what Jesus means when he tells us the Love of God is in us now waiting only an opportunity to be recognized.
