The ego professes many needs, but in truth has only one: The need to love. It is the need it must deny, frequently tucking it just behind its desire to be loved; another feeling it must hide. The need to love arises from our function as a co-creator; to extend what Love Is. Seen through the ego’s perception of its guilt, the drive to be loving is often confused with the feeling it is unlovable. This confusion can be clarified with a simple, though not easy, illustration. When next you feel unloved, ask to have someone brought to you who needs assurance they are loved. Now ask your God Self to exercise your natural desire to love them. Do this and you will end all confusion between loving and being loved.
