Can you forgive a serial killer, a terrorist or child molester? Probably not. For once you have identified them as such you have set them apart from you and made real both their crime and the one you have judged yourself for. The way you define a person or situation unconsciously sets your expectation from it. Forgiveness is more than a release from guilt. It is the reminder that what we judge has no reality beyond the story our perception has made. Ask instead if you can forgive the Holy Child of God masquerading as one of the world’s best storytellers. Redefining your thoughts will help you to see differently.
