Rumi

One night, just before sleep, feeling frustrated at still struggling with ego thoughts, I remembered my favorite Rumi poem of meeting in the field that is past all thoughts of right doing and wrong doing. Oh Rumi, I cried out. Where is this field where we can meet? I hear a voice reply, “There is a light that you will follow. At first you will think it is a star. (I flash on the symbolism of the “star” of Bethlehem.) Then you will feel the difference. This is a light like no other you have seen or felt. (Great feelings of love rise up within me.) It has always been with you, though rarely seen. Trust it now. It will be a brief journey, only a moment more. But do come prepared to laugh a lot.”
